Trigun Episode 22: Alternative
Millie, Meryl, Vash, and Wolfwood are camping out in the desert. Vash thinks about Brad's funeral and blames all the deaths that have occurred entirely on himself.
The next day, they all drive to a city. The people there however, live in fear and deny them entrance. They find orphans living nearby and spend the evening with them. One kid described how one night, everyone in the city just suddenly stopped what they were doing and left town, as if they were mind controlled. He was the only person not effected. The same thing happened with the other children, who were from other towns. Vash realizes that the Gung Ho Guns will just continue to do that if he hesitates any more.
Meanwhile during the night, someone breaks into the town and kills a guard named Jeffery. The next day, some people from the town go to where Vash + friends are staying and demand that they come out (Blaming them for Jeff's death.) Vash and Wolfwood come out because Vash decided it was best to try and talk it out with them. The men start beating up on them, but suddenly giant Sandworms appear. The men forgot about blaming Vash and everyone takes shelter in the city. The worms, however, are able to get in the city as well. Wolfwood starts firing on them, but Vash won't let him kill them. Vash figures out, however, that the worms are under mind control. He discovers one of the kids is controlling them, and the kid reveals himself to be a Gung Ho Gun, Zazie the Beast. Zazie whips out two guns and points on at Meryl, and one at Vash. Vash begins to talk him out of shooting, but out of nowhere a gun is fired and Zazie falls down dead. Everyone turns to see that it was Wolfwood who killed him. All are shocked by what he did, but Wolfwood justifies his actions by claiming, "Even though he was a kid, he was still a demon."
